Bio-Identical Hormone Replacement Therapy (BHRT)
Many Healthcare Providers are choosing to use BHRT to treat symptoms caused by hormone imbalances in both women and men. Unlike synthetic hormones, bio-identical hormones are compounded from natural sources of hormones which are closer to those produced by the human body. BHRT doses are customized for each patient by prescription only and are compounded in various doses and forms. BHRTs are available from our pharmacy in capsule, cream, suppository, and troche forms. Estrogens (Bi-Est & Tri-Est) which are used to relieve menopausal symptoms in women. It is also known to protect against osteoporosis, heart disease and Alzheimer's. Estrogen helps increase mental acuity and memory as well as raises levels of endorphins and seratonins (feel good hormones).

Progesterone is used to decrease PMS symptoms. It enhances mood and has a calming effect. Progesterone helps regulate fluid balance and blood sugar levels as well as working in harmony with thyroid levels. Progesterone can improve a low libido and help strengthen bones.

Cortisol is a natural steroid produced by the body to help respond to stress, trauma, and infection. Cortisol can increase energy and metabolism, regulate blood pressure, and decrease allergic and inflammatory responses. Cortisol can also help maintain integrity of blood vessels.

Pregnenolone is used for memory enhancement, mood elevation, and for decreasing joint pain. It is also used to counter-balance excess cortisol.
BHRT is tailored to meet your individual needs by your healthcare provider. The needs listed above are general, and your healthcare provider may be prescribing hormones for needs other than those listed above.
Promethazine (Phenergan) Topical Gel
Promethazine is used to treat the symptoms of nausea and vomiting. The gel is used by applying the prescribed dose on the inner wrist and rubbing the medicine into the skin. Promethazine gel is a great alternative to the rectal or oral route for someone who is queasy.
Anti-Inflammatory Topical Creams
Piroxicam and Diclofenac are anti-inflammatories used to treat aches and pains that are usually associated with arthritis or other long-term pains. Taking anti-inflammatories like these by mouth over long periods of time can cause stomach irritation and sometimes ulcers. The Piroxicam or Diclofenac creams are compounded to be applied directly to the skin to be absorbed. Since the medication is not taken by mouth, the stomach irritation and ulcer risk associated with long-term use is decreased.
